Where to use cobbles

Garden borders

Cobbles are ideal for defining edges around flower beds, patios and pathways. Use them to create neat, structured borders that contrast beautifully against soft planting areas.

Water features and ponds

Aside from traditional decorative purposes, you can also add many of our premium cobbles to streams, fountains and pond surrounds. Smooth cobbles can create a natural supporting border and provide a beautiful, functional edge to water features. Their weight and smoothness make them perfect for stabilising pond liners while the intense colours shine through beneath the water’s surface.

Gabion baskets

Gabions can be used to build retaining walls, raised beds, decorative seating areas, or boundary features. Take our eye-catching larger cobbles (80-150mm), for example. These garden staples are an ideal choice for filling gabion baskets because their size ensures stability within the mesh and they create a stunning focal point within any design.

Rockeries

Cobble Stone Types and Colours

Our decorative cobbles are available in a variety of colours and shapes:

• White cobbles – Not all cobbles are the same. Our premium Polar White Cobbles are sourced from Spain and their sparkling bright white colour is ideal for contemporary designs. They also look equally striking when used with terracotta in Mediterranean gardens.
• Black cobbles – This beautiful volcanic basalt stone deepens to an intense glossy black colour when wet which makes it perfect for areas around ponds and water features. When dry, Black Cobbles show a softer charcoal tone with subtle, characterful speckles. 
• Rainbow cobbles – An eye-catching choice that customers love. Unlike most cobbles, the stones are textured and slightly rough to the touch with vibrant veins of colour running through each cobble.  A standout addition to any garden. 
• Scottish cobbles - each stone has a unique striation of colours which deepen when wet to highlight the beautiful marbling. A fantastic addition to water features and ponds.
• Flat Cobbles - Flat Cobbles are high-quality granite stones with a smooth, rounded feel in soft grey tones. Perfect for adding a touch of timeless style to garden borders and water features.
