Types of Garden Gravel and Aggregates

The right type of gravel can completely change how your garden looks. We offer an impressive range, including Granite, Limestone, Quartz and Marble. We also stock many colours and materials, from premium Spanish Polar White Marble to dark granite charcoal.

We have an impressive range of beautiful aggregates with each stone type offering different textures, tones and characteristics:

  • Marble Chippings – A striking decorative stone with a hard, crystalline structure that sparkles in sunlight. Choose from the pure white of Polar White Marble to warm peach Flamengo Gravel tones or subtle blue shades of Polar Ice Chippings, perfect for modern, bright garden designs and traditional terracotta style gardens.

  • Pea Gravel  – Small, rounded quartz stones that are hard-wearing, weather-resistant and low maintenance. Commonly used for pathways, borders and decorative features.

  • Limestone Chippings – A softer material, limestone offers a warm, buff or cream tone perfect for cottage-style gardens and natural landscapes. Popular examples include Cotswold Buff and Dove Grey.

  • Granite Chippings – Known for strength and colour variety, granite is highly durable and ideal for driveways, paths and decorative spaces. Choose from subtle silver greys, vibrant greens, or rustic reds for a bold finish.

Choosing the right size of gravel

  • For driveways and footpaths, angular gravels between 14mm and 20mm are recommended. Stones of this size interlock effectively, reducing movement and providing a stable surface that’s less prone to crushing or displacement under vehicle weight.

  • For pathways, we recommend gravel no smaller than 10mm, as finer stones can wash away in heavy rain or become lodged in shoe treads.

  • For decorative features, smaller chippings or rounded stones can provide texture, colour contrast and visual interest without compromising practicality.
